For many institutions, quality assurance still lives in a folder: evidence to collect, standards to meet, a report to file. The seal is obtained, and very little changes in how the school actually runs.
That is a missed opportunity. International accreditations open doors no brochure can. Partner universities that will only sign with an accredited school, double degrees, exchange networks, recognition in markets where your name means nothing. Which one to pursue, in what order, for which markets: these are not quality questions but strategic ones.
The reverse is just as true. Expanding abroad exposes an institution to scrutiny it cannot improvise. The systems built for accreditation are precisely what makes credible international development possible, and what keeps it from unravelling once it scales.
Mélanie Cadart, Director of HEADway Quality, and Stéphanie Villemagne, Director of International Development for HEADway Strategy, will trace the line from one to the other: how to build an accreditation roadmap that serves an international strategy rather than running alongside it, and what shifts inside an institution when quality stops being a function and becomes a shared responsibility.
For deans, provosts, international directors and quality managers who suspect their accreditation work should be worth more than the certificate.
